1. En
la página 44 de tu libro d etexto de inglés tienes 10 nombres de inventos.
Light bulb – stams – umbrella – dishwasher –
plaster – paper clip – microwave – microscope – bilingual dictionary – digital termometer
Copialos en tu cuaderno en inglés y en español.
Ejemplo: light bulb (bombilla)
2. Todos
esos inventos fueron inventados por inventores. Vamos a conocer algunos de
ellos. Vamos a leer sobre cuatro inventores (Four inventors)
Leonardo da
Vinci (1452 – 1519)
Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa, which is perhaps the most famous painting in the world. But Leonardo was also a scientist and an inventor. He invented some musical instruments and a type of clock. He also designed this flying machine.
Josephine Cochrane (1839 – 1913)
In about 1880, Josephine Cochrane had an idea. She wanted to design a machine to wash dishes. So she studied science and mechanics. She learned how to draw. She worked on her design for six years. Finally, in 1886, her dishwashing machine was complete.
Thomas Edison (1847 – 1931)
Thomas Edison invented many things. He invented the phonograph (a machine for recording sound), a type of battery and a type of car. But his most famous invention was a type of light bulb. He was not the first person to invent a light bulb, but his design was the most efficient. Nowadays, there are light bulbs for bicycles, mobile phones, fridges and microscopes. Can you imagine life without light bulbs?
George Lerner (1922 – 1995)
In 1949, George Lerner invented a plastic toy called Mr Potato Head. At first, the toy was not a success. But in 1952, Mr Potato Head appeared in a television commercial. Then every child wanted the toy. Today, Mr Potato Head is one of the most popular toys in the world. He is also a character in the Toy Story films.

Hoy trabajaremos con el libro de texto.
Lectura: Places to visit in Liverpool página 43 de tu libro de texto.
Si no tienes el libro te escribo aquí el contenido
Liverpool is acity in the north of England. I
was there last August. Here are two places I can recommend.
1 The Echo Wheel is a very popular
touristattraction in Liverpool. It´s 60 metres tall. I recommend the wheel
because you can see incredible views of the city. From the top of the wheel you
can see parks, museums and galleries. You can see the River Mersey. On a clear
day, you can see the mountains in Wales. Te wheel turns 360° and the ride lasts
about 15 minutes.
2 Sefton Park is one of Liverpool´s largest
green areas. I recommend the park because is the perfect place for a quiet walk
or a bike ride. There are statues and
fountain in the park. There is a lake where you can rent a boat. for sporty
people, there are areas where you can play tennis, football and other sports.
If you want to take your laptop, there are cafés with wifi zones. The park is
open 24 hours a day and it´s free togo in.
By Becky
Contesta las cuatro preguntas
Answer the questions:
1 Why does Becky recommend the Echo Wheel?
2 Find three facts about the Echo Wheel.
3 Why does Becky like Sefton Park?
4 Find three facts about Sefton Park.
Como ves, el texto habla de dos lugares que
Becky recomienda visitar en Liverpool.
En esta actividad debes elegir un lugar
que conozcas bien de tu pueblo y recomendarlo como hace Becky. No olvides decir
lo que es y porqué lo recomiendas.
Ejemplo:
The Vivero is a
very popular park in Guadix. I recommend the Vivero because you
can do lots of exercise there. You can walk, run or simply have a rest. You
can see a lot of different types of plants.
_____________ is a very popular ____________ in ________________. I recommend __________________ because you can ______________________________________. __________________________________________________________________.

Body of the letter
I am Antonio. I am Spanish. I live in Granada. It´s a great
city. The people are friendly and the weather is good.
I don´t live in the city centre, but I can see the Alhambra
from my bedroom window.
From Monday to Friday I go to school. My school isn´t near
from home. It takes fifteen minutes to go by bus. There´s lots to see on the
journey. Granada is so beautiful! There
are parks and museums. There are incredible streets with ancient buildings
arround the Cathedral. There are lots of bars where you can take tapas. There
is a port and some shopping centres.
Last Sunday, I was at the Science Park, it was amazing!
My favourite place in Granada is the gardens around the
Alhambra. I love walking by them.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. -------- Closing paragraph
